UT is mainly CPU driven, any low end graphics card will suffice.

If I'm correct, the software renderer doesn't even use graphics card capabilities. Using it I actually ran it on an AT-based system (some of you are probably old enough to remember the "It's now safe to turn off your computer" messages) with only a 2D accelerator, 16 MB of RAM (forgot the type, I know it was older than DIMM though), and something made by AMD. The system was also running Windows 95. ALMOST got it playable too, but the FPS dropped too freaking low when action happened on screen, I probably could have gotten it playable if I had the knowledge of all the ini's and such I do now though. The max FPS I got it to run I believe was like 15 on a 50hz monitor running it at the second lowest resolution selectable. Shockingly 15fps was considered playable for a lot of games in the 90s, especially if you were used to gaming on a PlayStation or Nintendo 64 or especially if you had Doom on the SNES.

download this file >http://ut-files.com/index.php?dir=Video_Renders/D3D9/&file=utd3d9r13.zip

UNZIP it to the unrealtournament\system folder ["D3D9Drv.dll" and "D3D9Drv.int"]

BROWSE (windows explorer) to the folder unrealtournament\system
find the file unrealtournament.ini

right mouse click and OPEN the file
press CTRL-F and type GameRenderDevice and click FindNext
this will take you to this line GameRenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
change it to look like THIS GameRenderDevice=D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice

press CTRL-F and click FindNext in the Engine.GameEngine class
change this line GameRenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice
or it might say GameRenderDevice=None
to look like this GameRenderDevice=D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice

press CTRL-F and type D3DDrv and click FindNext
this will take you to this line >[D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice]
change it to look like this >[D3D9Drv.D3D9RenderDevice]
close and save this file (x in the corner).
PLAY.
