i'm not good at making maps its been years and year since I even attempted... I'd like to make a map.. I have the idea in my head i'd just need someone to help put it together

if you have some time let me know - its not really going to be a remake but if I had to give an example it will be a mix of relentless and butchered in terms of layering but very different overall

I think one of the biggest problems with maps that are played out now is they are not very dynamic.. only one or two levels .... idea I have is for 3 levels... a fairly open mid but with some places for cover and bridges high so offense can try and call out where people are coming from.. would have some protective glass so you couldn't just camp or be camped on bridges

anyway just let me know.. already have entire layout in my head and name - Cross

took ideas directly out of my head and putting it together

Hopefully it plays well. I tried to make it balanced for offense and defense - plenty of ways to make teles, boosters, different nuking options, and most important multiple layers. I felt like most of the maps we play are one dimensional. Only had one or two levels and mid is just a dm fest. This map has some of that but a lot more. i'd post the link for starting ss's but i'd rather everyone just see it when its close to being finished.

Again big props to fluke for being an amazing map maker

its a decent idea and doing it from the drawing you gave me was a challenge..lol


but its coming along nicely, doing more on it today, building core rooms.

i dont have the sketch convict sent me anymore, lets just say it wasnt detailed..lol, convict should post it so people can see what i had to work from.


this is a screenie of the middle section which is pretty much finished., bases are empty rooms right now so thats all that is left to do with a few other changes to some walls etc.

just mid area which has had a lot added to it since those screenshots, core rooms are at each end which are not built yet (you can see opening under the "RED BASE" texture), the core rooms will be roughly three times bigger than core area in Kanjar.

more screenshots will come as i progress.

just remember this map is Convicts idea, it will simply be built using my style and touches i normally put in maps.

fluke i'm not posting that drawing i made from paint lol - was shitty i know... You did a great job of putting it together. Its tough to just tell from the screen shots but I want to get with you and test it first to make any tweaks before it goes public. So far tho its almost exactly as I envisioned. will pm you before you finish to make the small tweaks that I can see

Also that opening I wanted you to add to core looks perfect - texturing and windows in core rooms and mid look sick - make sure above core there is glass in ceiling tho. I never planned on making teles above there

I will be busy this week but this weekend just let me know what day and i'll beta test with you

more importantly going to try and get this up on server to be played next week

i'd prefer it only be a pug map and be used next seasons mlsg but we'll see... i almost feel like the idiots on the server constantly revoting niven don't even deserve an amazing new map

From someone that preffers random mapcycles instead of mapvoting.

We have certain maps with many versions, if we want to increase the variety either some of these have to go, or simply increase the amount of games a map's red status lasts.
I've seen some maps get revoted after 2 games, that's excessive in my opinion... hell, OutworldHold never went red now that I noticed.

My solution, is to mix both voting plus random cycle:
Have normal voting all the time, but after a match ends, with 20% chance a random map from the lists (not red) will be automatically picked (like forcing 999 votes on it).


Ontopic: the layout is a bit straightforward, but certainly different than all of the other maps, therefore, it's unique and a good candidate for both Pug and Pub.

its all good man, just havn't seen you on at all and there are things I know need to be tweaked - severed said he helped edit some glitches? anyway i'll catch up with you eventually
