I like branding each release by milestone, and this thread was made to propose one for RC21.

RC20 (and the endless fixes, new one coming soon) > featured lag compensation for extra weapons.

I propose a milestone for RC21:
- Make Ape Cannon buildable (400 ru?) and remove it from middle spawn.
- Create a multi use grenade launcher for mid spawn (buildable too?).

The grenade launcher is an old concept, primary fire shoots, and secondary switches the grenade type.
> DEFAULT: Basic grenades (uses rocket launcher ones, 1.5x speed) (takes ammo from rocket launcher)
> Mini EMP grenades (small EMP range, 3x range for mines) (10 max)
> Napalm (puts clusters of builds on fire) (10 max)
> Fragmentation (frag projectiles go thru builds, damaging more than one) (25 max)
> Gas (leaves a poison cloud for 10 seconds, PG style damage but deadly) (15 max)

The mid spawn would grant max ammo for one grenade type randomly (except DEFAULT, that depends on rocket launcher ammo), and a small amount for the others.
And maybe making the fragmentation and gas ones buildable.

There should be shrapnel and stun grenade too where everything turns white for a couple seconds and I high pitch noise like in metal gear solid !!

Emp grenade with small radius is a great idea.

Emp has a use but in a very small radius. Like for example you can emp the front of simplex barricade instead of having to destroy it completely. This way you can organise attacks to infiltrate enemy base temporarily while defending team can still easily defend.

So it won't emp your whole base instead just a radius it hits. Which would not make it as over powered as before.

Higor is just licking his chops at building ape cannons on Niven for 400 RU while getting a 5-1 or better return on that investment lel. Should be closer to the pulse rifle (800) which makes it restrictive to build but worth it potentially for strategic considerations. Personally would be OK with seeing the ape cannon removed, but it does have a classic name so that alone makes me want it to stay. :)

If you want to explore changing mid spawns, maybe make the mid spawns map-dependent where no ape cannon spawns on BathroomsEQ1, for instance. Sounds like potentially a lot of extra work, but just throwing out an idea.

Well, the ape cannon could actually be UPGRADED to a grenade launcher, just make the alt fire launch a grenade, (or multiples -like 3) that bounce and then detonate when you die or let off of the alt fire... so you have some kind of control of their detonation.

I don't even know why they want to limit the mines, it's ridiculous... the only thing I think is that the super mine should be make LESS strong...it's damn near impossible to kill it unless you nuke it.

Less strong as in what, if it doesnt have much protection around it it's pretty easy to kill

I mean it repairs too fast, if 4 people charge into a super mine one after the other, maybe even 3 ...it should DIE....

Builds shouldn't be defending for you. Defense should be a co-op. Offense is already co-op since everyone pretty much attacks together.

What I'd like to see is more synchronicity in attacks.

a fully loaded bio each with another teammate will kill a super mine from each of your hits. is that enough info on how weak it is for you now?

hell its even easy to kill one when it has two super containers beside it

This cute little thing is getting better and better.
Unreal has ZERO code regarding ammo packs with multiple ammo types in it so it took me more than usual, add to that all possible cases ammo can be transferred from one weapon/pickup to another, as well as what ammo to spawn on a new weapon.

The grenade pack should look different with each grenade type currently loaded, and a HUD display should make it easier for those with hidden weapons.
I'll nickname it the McGyver Grenade Launcher.

The fragments spawned by the fragmentation grenade (40) and the poison clouds from the toxic grenade (12) are all generated using a random seed sent by the server.
This random seed will generate the same results on both client and server machines while not even sending the fragments themselves over the network.

This is 100% simulation of fragments with 100% accuracy and the bandwidth usage equivalent to only 1 fragment.

The experimental usage of a random seed was 100% succesful and I'll formualte it for the sgEnforcer and it's client/server aim error simulation + lag compensation.

nice concept for a weapon, but real bad idea for siege as banny pointed out.

Just like Bob Barker says, ONLY .. if the Price is Right... I disagree, alternatives for weapons only means a more interesting game. There are counter measures and if you use them right, you will prevail.

This could be made as a Late game weapon. +2.5k RU or something lol idk how would the ammo cartigrades work.

BTW, I really like the idea and the weapon, but I have a few questions...

Does the Mini EMP ammo lasts forever like the normal one ? (until repaired).
Does the Napalm ammo burn lasts forever ? (until repaired).

How much ammo can the GL carry ? Can it carry different types of ammo at the same time ?

Depending on the answer you could say it wont fit on Siege or not, and also de RU cost of course.

The GL will be available per-catridge and not in it's full repository, something between 450 and 700 RU with limited grenade amount (15 EMP, 15 Napalm, 20 Toxic, 30 Fragmentations).
Only mid spawn will give all ammo types.

The GL in all cases will share rockets with the rocket launcher (up to 48) so if you supply the rocket launcher, you'll also fire normal rocket grenades with the GL (with a bit of extra propulsion).

my head spins trying to get used to all these constant changes, what is also over looked is how often do you see people build blue pulse or leecher etc.? I hardly ever see anyone build any of the weapons so what is the point adding more?

Being the sole creator of a mod for the past 9 years i know how tough it is to introduce new things to players who are comfortable with that current setup, i normally make small changes every 2 months or more and they are always small changes except for my latest RX7, this thread feels like overkill especially when there are real things that need fixing first before you throw in a world of confusion by releasing so much at once.

i mean like this....

this is the RX6 which i built a year or two ago and tweaked and changed during that time, small tweaks at a time. but I recently finished the first version of the RX7 a few months ago.

These changes for a mod that has players who are perfectly adjusted to the current setup will dislike big changes, i know that first hand, i get it in the neck every single new release i make but i learnt that changing too much too fast does more damage than good.

lag compensator is not fixed, i still have trouble switching weapons and when it eventually does its scrolls 2-3 more than i wanted, made me rage quit many times along with others having the same problem.

I have asked and asked and asked and asked and still being ignored, the SwitchANIM on the constructor is SHIT! higor, cut the damn anim for weapon switching to the constructor in half for like the 100th time, cut the frames in half in the import for the model, its a 30 second fix, please do it, no weapon in UT switches that damn slow, very poor anim rate.

not sure where the fault lies here but there is a nuke bug in pug matches or could have been a one off, no way to tell because this is the only time i have ever alt fired a nuke in pug, I launched a guided nuke and server paused because a player left, this froze me in flight and as soon as the server unpaused the nuke exploded in the air, no one shot it, full explosion. but like i said, that may not lie with the code, but worth checking.?

All of this is only my opinion and in no way am i talking down about any developer work, i am just talking from years of experience releasing new versions of a mod and voicing my opinion.

siege cannot be copied to anyone and have any custom versions for anyone to edit :/ we cant send out a free version of siege for everyone to use for servers and shit.

pretty sure its class priority description is like the BioRifle considering it is right next to it, so priority 3 or 4.

whatever priority class the launcher has doesn't matter as you can choose what you want and in what order, that kinda makes the question pointless

Higor has totally customis(z)ed the midspawn's erratic and destructive nature and will comply with any of @SilverWing (http://www.unrealkillers.com/member.php?u=6)'s petty whims (no offence implied.. just stated) or complaints about it.

but I honestly DO want some resolution to this terrible atrocity given to a well earned weapon of Mass Destruction.

The profile has been overtampered with to make it somehow consistant to IST (totally the majority of the server's players, kappa).
As collateral damage we've had a broken GL for months.

What about remove the lag of all weapons? like TimTim 's newnet? Currently, the only weapons 100% free of lag is sniper and enforcer, this is not fair.
At least siege must have Shock and Rocket free of lag. With rocket i feel a huge difference when i play with 200 ping to 150, but even 150 is a considerable delay.

Shock Rifle sucks in siege, it is like a more weak sniper. Primary fire has not ping, but secundary delay make almost impossible do good combos. The main characteristic of shock is the combos, but i never see anybody with ping 100+ using shock as it should be used.

I prefer 10x play with 300 ping in a newnet server, than play siege with 150 ping.

Ape Cannon is grossly overpowered. If you're going to have it refill, have it do so at maybe 1/50 of the rate. Hyper leecher would also be actually useful as a mid pickup if it were also refillable in such a way.

The only thing preventing newnet on siege is the hud issue. If Higor can fix that we could start using newnet with siege. Higor do you have plans to implement LCW for other weapons?
