Me and my dad need help putting up dual monitors for windows XP. i have an nvidia geforce 9600 GT and when i try to install the second monitor the only options that come up are vertically ( when the bost monitors = one monitor with 2 halfs ), a clone which are bost the same displays and horizontally( when both monitors = 1 monitor with 2 half ) and the way i want is when its 2 different screens, and they bost have the same desktop but you can drag the mouse and windows to each other so they both can show 2 things at once ( like UT on the left and mozilla on the right) does anyone know how I can do this? btw, the 2 screens that i want to connect are a SAMSUNG SME2420L ( wide ) and a SAMSUNG SYNCMASTER ( square ) I think the problem is that they bost are different in size and type :/ if its still possible with both these monitors plz help!!! thank you

You need to right click desktop properties and then settings. Should be a button to tick that says something like extend display.

Below is an illustration of the desk.cpl control panel applet for configuring your display adapters and monitors. Open the Control Panel and click on Display (or Windows Key-R and desk.cpl)

To EXTEND you desktop, click on the second monitor (2) (marked with a RED arrow) and check the box that says "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor" (marked with a red BOX around it). To position the monitors, click and HOLD the monitor that you want to position(Green or Red Arrows) and DRAG it to the position you want it to be in.

To set the advanced properties for your monitors, click the monitor you want to set (Green or Red arrow) and then click "Advanced" (Purple Arrow).

*Properly installed Video Drivers and 2nd monitor are assumed to be correctly installed and attached. If your "Advanced" properties page does not show your manufacturers tabs on it, your display adapter driver is not installed properly.
