you didn't wait long enough chamberly, googles it for you - nerfed = reduced desirability

3 or 4 ammo for each type of projectile will drastically reduce the spam from it

There's just SO.... MUCH....AMMO.... with which it comes. Isn't it like 54 grenades or something insane?

The one good part of that is when it's a "pretty good" set of players (as opposed to the annoying low ping/untouchable players), the g.l. will get dropped multiple times and pass from team to team, which is fun. But whenever those "leet" players are around, it's just annoying and brutal and they keep it for like 10 minutes.

Imo it should be nurfed, keeping the exploding rounds the same but gas 6, 15 mortar and 15 rocket. May suggest to players to use it more strategically then spamming it.

Added for 0011:

There's a new pickup mode that gives
- Full ammo of a random type
- Random ammo of 2 types
- No ammo of 1 type
(Rocket type not taken into account, it's the same ammo as the Rocket Launcher)

I was thinking something like...

flame rounds - 3
poison rounds - 3
normal grenade - full ammo (although this one seems a bit pointless as it is a rocket launcher projectile, odd having it in two weapons)
EMP rounds - 3

that would completely balance it, I also think having it random will get confusing and it seems a bit over the top to add random function, why create extra work for yourself Higor?

but your suggestion here is way better than it is currently set up. :)

The first ammo type is shared by both weapons (therefore, suppliable), difference is 1 extra second and 30% extra propulsion if fired using the GL instead of the Rocket launcher.

Please remove this God awful weapon. It does nothing else than spam, at least make it mid respawning and not buy-able ... people spam like crazy, small maps with tight building concentrations are unplayable with this weapon. This weapon is for wining/spamming not for playing/having fun. But if the purpose of the game is solely always wining, I must be playing the wrong game.

As silverwing says.. it's great for maps like simplex and niven. For else i really don't care. To be honest i like it a lot even though it's a bit spammy weapon. But still, it makes game lot faster

Let's evaluate the grenade launcher:
1) EMP - useful for some maps so it should stay buy with low ammo 5-10 and should be a mid item
2) Napalm - A spam weapon where most of the time people will use it to sup spam and it is almost exactly the same as flame. Remove it from siege
3) Poison - It's a portable version of poison guard. It can be useful but people abuse it and will use it for spamming doors and the supplier do remove it.
4) Rocket - Again it is like the Rocket launcher, useless remove it.

So i believe EMP should be in but only as mid spawn and low ammo. Also it should be one of those weapons that should spawn late in the game.

The napalm gun is a GREAT addition but not the way it was done because it made nukes almost obsolete. It's a stale-mate breaker so that maps don't go for 3 hours. BUT it shouldn't make nukes obsolete. So it's about finding a middle-ground?

Maybe make them buy-available in overtime so the map can be endable? Or increase it's spawn rate at game goes by so that eventually it gets 100% spawn so a pace keeps going?

Neither. The only problem i have is when it spawns way early in the game. Sometimes its the first weapon to spawn and bases are not prepared for its power.

The spamw time on public should be 1 in 1 minute... 1st spamw after 10 minutes of game... the 1st item dont should be a crystal, everyone will know the time for try catch the random item. the problem is the balancing of some itens... granade launcher is really a BAD weapon... the napalm fire gives too much RU... 3 or 4 shots on enemy stuff give more than 1000 RU!!!! if you can use all 15 shots you will get easy 4 or 5k RU!!!

the damage and the ammo count should be reduced

Flame grenade should be removed, why 2 flames OP in siege?
EMP is perfect, but the rage should be longer (holding the fire key, like bio, maybe)
Toxin should explode on the moment what the grenade touch the floor/wall/actor

- Fragmentation buildable.
- Mid grenade takes a lot longer to spawn.
- Mid grenade has 100% ammo of one type, 0-99% ammo of other two types and no ammo of a fourth type.
- Flame impact causes half the damage to players.

Those are the balance changes we'll probably never see up on the public server.

About toxic grenade:
It explodes on second hit, this was done on purpose to let you gas a bit safer from enemy spam.

About EMP grenade:
Was designed to deal with huge defensive clusters and annoying SP/mines near door, a bigger range would make it too cost effective.
Something you might have not noticed is that EMP effect radius is doubled for mines and SP's, so you don't have to target those first, aim for the containers and the SP/Mine next to it should be affected.

The intentions during GL creation were:
- Toxic > lock down an entrance for defensive purposes.
- Frag > clear an entrance or a room for offensive purposes.
- Flame > damage buildings.
- Emp > disable buildings.
- Rocket > spare your mouse while you spam rocket grenades (they travel a bit longer as well).
Making flame deal less damage to players was an obvious change I had to make.
While toxic grenades look underwhelming, it wouldn't be right to make them buildable as someone would start using these for cheap gassing of an enemy entrance while others nuke.
Just imagine three ppl shooting gas and EMP all over your base...

Well I haven't played siege at all lately but I do see how it can do massive damage to the other team.

It is massively overpowered and it can end a game quickly when used right, but then both teams have the option of using it, so I vote to keep it.

I will play again some time as soon as I get some code bugs worked out (famous last words).

Ape cannon is the best weapon for crowd control where you need to defend your base against heavy spam and a mass push, can get you godlike sprees if used well but it's completely useless for offensive purposes.
The GL is imba early on, but it's a vital tool around overtime to prevent game stalling.

I'll say it over and over, taking the GL out was a mistake.
Going that route instead of a nerf (which was present on the default profile) is simply going from one extreme to the other, going around the same problem:
- Games are not fun if ended by a very early strong spawn.
- Games are not fun if a stupid strong defense takes you two hours to break because you lack means to do so.

Also, in games with less than 20 players the RU increases at a greater rate to increase momentum and keep the game flowing so that teams can properly build the base and try to attack.
The default SiegePub profile goes as far as enabling ContainerX and normal Guardians as means to counter the late GL, Buildable EMP, Flame, Ape and Damage Amp that spawns more often after overtime.

Basically with default SiegePub the games 'were' intended to go crazy and become more volatile with lots of options to go.

I'll say it over and over, taking the GL out was a mistake.
Going that route instead of a nerf (which was present on the default profile) is simply going from one extreme to the other, going around the same problem:
- Games are not fun if ended by a very early strong spawn.
- Games are not fun if a stupid strong defense takes you two hours to break because you lack means to do so.

Here's the thing. Even the nerfed GL was too overpowered. Everyone who tried it agreed on that. However, I still think an EMP launcher as mid spawn would be a great addition to the game and would enhance teamwork. Unfortunately, the current siege only allows it to be a buildabe weapon.
Honestly, I haven't played much siege since the update - won't for the next 4 weeks either - to tell whether the games are lasting much longer than before or if the gameplay changed to the worse. Some input would be great regarding missing GL and nerfed trans.

Level 5 trans was pretty op before. I like it the way it is for now. The old level 4 might be an appropriate compromise.

GL was an important weapon on Niven to accelerate offense in games. Mid-spawning EMP would be good.

Nerfing the launcher was basically strengthening sniper and DM behavior and weakened close combat with grenades.

That’s what they did in Formula 1 sanctioning. When they started "nerfing" the engines to tiny 1600cc and slowed them down with all kinds of crap, it got pretty boring and the fan base shrunk.

Make a poll and ask to remove or weaken sniper on pub and invite all those to vote who are not on the forum and see what happens.

I'd say lets add a new weapon for a change. How about strange love? Imagine Scourge zipping through Clarion with mach 5 or SpeedKiller flying in Niven lol

Indeed, it would seem that there is a separation of Player "Opinion" and Server Setup and Configuration. What the players want doesn't matter anymore, it's what the Server Admin want and that's all;

Pulse and minigun lockdown is just lame as fuck but as usual like fluke says will get ignored. Same with knobheads crouching every two seconds even if you aren't using a sniper rifle there must be a coding issue as they seem to get damaged less. Shock rifles suck. Sniper sucks. I think what is meant is the comments are about pulse rifle and the minigun, neither of those are long range weapons, so your comment seemed like you didn't read it properly. They both pin you down so you cant move or retaliate, That is what is hated about them. I use sniper 90% of the time like most, so long range weapons are loved, not hated. ;)

I had an epiphany.
In this setup (WS2012, R7 360) i found it impossible to play in any renderer.
OpenGL couldn't reach 50 fps, D3D looks washed out and has mouse lag regardless of swapinterval options, software rendering is super slow...

Then I decided to do something... downloaded a Glide wrapper and tried the GlideDrv.
I can play at 1600x1200 at full fps and once again I was able to aim with the sniper once again, going at short range with it as I used to.


So, if most noobs preffer minigun, it's because they likely don't have a proper setup that helps them make good sniper shots (which is likely why they're not playing IG).

Ah! That explains a lot!
Both OpenGL and DX were problematic so I was stuck with the software rendering and indeed, the headshot is like somewhere at the neck, which is frustrating and not coherent. I'll look into it.

Fret not, Discussions are a Blaze'n about! I'm sure it was un-intentional that you have missed a couple of them.. God knows I have missed my share. These issues have come before and they will find a way to get IRONED out, I'm sure ... let's not forget your Admin Servertravel commands which allow 'all 26 Admins' to start a match of ANY of the Siege versions we've created (and are currently residing) on the uK servers.

I just install this idea and of course with my luck .. First Run .. Crasssh .. but starting it again with out pause .. and flew into motion like never before seen on this stage. Love'n it now and thank you 1680x1050 at 45-50 FPS.

That's your DIRECT INPUT conflicting with your Windows Drivers. Uncheck it. or uninstall your Windows Driver for your mouse .. (or INSTALL one if you dont have one!) ... Thats not your Rendering system's problem so dont blame Video; Give it a try.

I agree that the GrenadeLauncher DID need to be changed, and it STILL needs to be changed AGAIN.. AT LEAST so that it uses FLAK ammo on the alt fire or something ..

Maybe you should be able to purchase ammo for the GrenadeLauncher if you have it in your inventory.
