I have had a problem for a while on the insta servers, it has gotten much worse, so I decided to finally fraps a small clip while playing.

This is not from a demo, as you can see the crosshair is miles ahead of where the shots hit.

use a different custom crosshair that's actually centered

I normally use timtim1337 xhairs, its the same no matter what xhair I use, the faster I move my mouse the further off it is.

It's hard to see where your shot is actually landing since it's so far away, and I hope you're not using the beam as a reference point because that's always delayed. What matters is where the explosion is. Also, when you're looking way up or way down, the shot never goes where your crosshair is. UT has always been like that, unless you crouch (at least with sniper).

I'm going by where the explosion hits, I have to move my mouse very slowly, as well as more or less stand still to hit near where I aim at.

I've fixed it.

What I did was:

Update my graphic card drivers,
Changed inis,
changed to the latest direct3d9 render,
turned direct input off

Nice! Yeah UT99 is a finicky old beast. Should bookmark this thread and point people to it because anytime someone is having problems, the solution is almost always to update drivers/renderers/settings.

lol i got a new problem, doesn't make the game unplayable like the last one, but is slightly annoying and doesn't make any sense.

If i move my mouse to the left at any speed it's fine, but if I move my mouse to the right it has massive negative acceleration, and hardly moves, any idea what could cause that?

direct input is crap - didnt think about you could be using it.
Made my shots go in weird directions too.
When not using di though you'll need an acceleration fix for your windows if you dont already have one. That might fix that acceleration problem too maybe

I've been using markC's mouse fix for awhile now but I'm just wondering if any one notices this problem with that mouse fix. Open MouseMovementRecorder and quickly move your pointer up and down on your desktop and take a SS of it does it look like this?:

If I move my pointer left to right or in a circular motion it doesn't show any accel except for when I go up and down :S. Does anyone know if that is normal or it's something on my end.

I found the cause of the odd mouse behavior, it was changing my mouse setting while playing, when I restart UT it goes back to normal.

It's just the same, I thought it was fixed, but it randomly happens, sometimes the movement in UT is fine, then it can be completely retarded and random. I'm not that bothered to be honest, I've really lost what little interest I had left for UT now that I have a computer that works.

I decided to play ut(offline) on one monitor, and have the mouse movement recorder on the other to have a good look, and was greeted to this -_-:

This is with Marc win 8.1 mouse fix, it only happens when Unreal tournament is on, I tested UT3 and it's fine BTW.

Is there any other mouse fixes around for Windows 8.1?

Playing with the way the mouse has been the last few months is horrible :(

When I turn off enhanced pointer precision off when Ut is running, I still get pointer movement way off mouse movement.

Turning Direct input on stops enhanced pointer precision coming on, but I'm not sure if it fixes everything else. I'm going to try RInput.

I have a gaming mouse mat, it's fine in all games except UT.

On the uk server it's fine, but on the us server it's buggy as shit, even though combo is fine.

Earlier today I thought I was playing shitty because of still being halfway asleep, or I thought maybe the same thing that's been happening to you was happening to me. It turns out *Plex Media Center was doing something in the background using up a bunch of my CPU and consistently causing random stutters and frame drops. So I killed that process and was able to play normally again (http://www.unrealkillers.com/usstats/?p=match&mid=88815).

Next time this is happening to you, check your task manager and sort by CPU. You might also want to run WinMTR again if you're stuttering upon spawning.

* Plex has really gone to shit lately. It used to be really good but now it's a pain in the ass. -_-

Try either UberTunnel or a VPN. VPN is okay as long as it's obvious it's you. :)

The server's log file is fucking enormous (32+ MB) which means it's been up and running continuously for a very long time. It doesn't look like anything has changed for quite a while.

Oh, nah. SJA asked if something had changed, and it doesn't look to me like anything has, since it's been running for quite a while. Also, despite what some people might think, the server running for a long time won't cause any problems unless there are really bad memory leaks or something, which would be noticeable within a single day if that were the case. So the fact that the server's been running so long and still felt good for SJA means that everything in the UT department is running great, purring along like a kitten.

We can also probably come to the conclusion that any issues people experience are due to any combination of the following: 1) bad routing 2) tasks running in the background of players' PCs hogging CPU 3) the server provider might be overloading the box with too many other games on the same machine or immediate network

My FPS randomly have gotten stuck to either 57fps or 64fps -_-, I've checked the vSync settings and it's off.

I don't understand what's happened, everything was perfect a few hours ago.

Dude. I swear. It feels like people actually think this. There will be a battle going on between a few players but then as soon as I'm nearby it's like everyone has a 6th sense that I'm around and does a 180 to focus on me and completely ignore my teammates even though they were just focused on them half a second ago. Meanwhile my teammates are still alive and hitting 0.005% accuracy.

Lol sja could have got bugged. Ive had that several times on some of my older inis that just randomly got fucked. Best way to avoid that is set your inis as read only so they dont get edited by ut while your playing. Only way to edit is manually through the ini then...

It's just one of those joys of playing 16 yo games, makes my head hurt when something like that happens when you changed nothing for it to do it, and nothing for it to stop doing it. I have a load of back up inis, so I know I'm safe if a crap server feels the need to mess up a players settings.

Their both back up but both servers basicly crashed everyone had 98% PL then got kicked out 20-30 seocnds later then both servers went down an came back up probably 5minutes later
