If anyone is having connection issues on the server please do the following for me ASAP.

1. http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/
2. Run the MTR trace for at least 2 minutes
3. Select text output
4. Paste / post on forum

I don't have connection issues, or packetloss, but I have noticed when the public server gets any more than 20 players on it, it really starts to lag. I'm not sure if it's the connections, or just all the shit 24 noobs can build, but I really recommend reducing player slots to 20. 4 less people doesn't make that much of a difference as far as gameplay, but when bandwidth's concerned it can make or break a game. Also for some reason the server ALWAYS lags in OT. just some things I noticed that may or may not be related to this thread.

my ping normally is 210~220 on this server, its not so bad to play, the shots of weapons without zp just delay, with ping 220 i dont have very lag, but sometimes, o ping varies 220-450, and in these periods is simplesmete impossible to play, when I use dodge the camera shakes, the mouse dont work fine, impact hammer fails, jump boots too dont work sometimes, weapons delay very much for switch, impoosiible to play ):

I set the Trace Interval to 1 second and I get Unreachable at each hop? set to 10 seconds and I get data.?

My internet is horrible but I got like bouncing Packet Loss!
Went up to like 97 down to 87 then 5 then 0 then spiking again...Then it act okay..Then...spike.... >.<

Btw, the first 4way pug nearly got screwed up due to 15 minutes of non-stop massive packet loss.

I have had bad pl(5-15%) for about a month on the siege server, but not all the time. I'll do a tracert next time it's bad.

It's funny when I get hit by a 6 pack of rockets and it doesn't do any damage.:)

The lag on UK siege right now is through the roof, never known it to be this bad. When first connecting it's OK, then objects like containers and teles fail to render until eventually ACE kicks me about 15 minutes later. Then I reconnect and the same thing happens, it's fine and gets progressively laggier

I found how to solve my problem: netspeed 20000.

I had been trying various speeds to cap framerate to around 75-100, and forgot.

I'm on virgin too. My connection is pretty good and stable most of the time, but plenty of people complain on the virgin forums about lag etc. Might be worth you getting your line checked.

I dont think it's my end that has the problem, when i first connect to the server the connection is perfect. Then ten minutes in it breaks down. The fact that it's following this pattern every time doesnt seem like it's just poor connection my end

#1 Sounds like an Unreal problem, not the server. I'd check your display driver settings on the Pull Down Menu for Preferences>Video>D3D and update it to D3D8 or D3D9.

#2 ALWAYS take a screenshot (say sshot in the console) when you see or hear something odd and include it in your post about it.

#3 the Jump keybind should be "DoubleJump|JumpRel|SetJetpack 1|Jump|OnRelease SetJetpack 0". Have you assigned a key for the Jump? To check it type 'get input <key>" just change the <key> to the key you are using for jump. mine is on the control key; so "get input ctrl" will show me "DoubleJump|JumpRel|SetJetpack 1|Jump|OnRelease SetJetpack 0"

To set it; type "set input DoubleJump|JumpRel|SetJetpack 1|Jump|OnRelease SetJetpack 0" in the Unreal Console

Sounds like you have an Unreal problem with #4. The Speech Binder is what attaches KEYS to Say and TeamSay commands. So when I press the "U" key my player says, "You like that?" for example. Are you referring to pressing the "V" key to say a message?

Only if you were playing on the same local network and on the game server. Each player must have it's own User.ini file for each computer. Deleting it (or renaming it) and then starting UnrealTournament will create a new INI file and allow you to play on same server, including local networks. Always make a backup copy of your Unreal files BEFORE deleting or renaming system files.

He has only a copy of my original UT GOTY CD, he did not use the same ini or D3D9 drivers.
I delete my ut and recovered a 2 years old ut backup from my usb stick (UT+D3D9 drivers+ HD Textures+Cache and settings) but the lag prob is the same!?! wtf goes on
PLZ help me, i changed nothing at the pc system or config.

I agree with Gorn, the servers have been really laggy. I remember that I used to press F6 and always have over 300 channels, now I barely hit 100 (I don't know if it has anything to do with the lag). My ping is still the same and when I go to another server, channels are around 380.

It has been like this for 2 weeks I think.

There are three types of channels:
- File channel. (pre-join)
- Control channel.
- Actor channel. (one per replicated actor)

The actor channels are the ones you see in F6 (maybe minus 1 for control channel) and are simply kept open even if no data is being transferred (other than keep alive signals), a big channel count on clients mean various things:
- Server making lots of replication checks for said client (and potentially other clients with high channel count).
- Too many bAlwaysRelevant actors, usually caused by lackluster mod design.
- Many database actors being transferred to more players than it should.
- If you're viewing via F5 a player with lots of items in his inventory. (This is a fuckup on default replication, cannot be fixed via UScript)

Other than those, clientside channel count isn't much of a cause for concern, unless the server's CPU is weak and framerate high because replication checks can be 10x as intense as normal game code. Higher tickrate and higher playercounts can make a server take from 1ms to 10ms to perform those checks... and 10ms is exactly the time needed to run at 100fps. It's one of the reasons that running NewNet at 100TR requires a player limit below 15-10 depending on server performance.

It's the serverside channel count that's critical, because the channel limit is 1024 it is very important to keep all possible replicatable actors below 1024.
If the server channel count goes above 1024, there is risk that new players will not be able to have their own pawns replicated to themselves causing them to sit in 'Connecting' and then failing to join.

Channel count can only be reduced by:
- Optimizing mods for better network play.
- Making decorations in maps -bNoDelete=True (or bStatic=True) and setting RemoteRole=ROLE_None, causing the client to load them and not receive them from server.
- Keeping monster count below 800. lol

The server was doing pretty good lately but within the last days it started crashing again on a daily basis.

It was the BlueVember map and I think I see a pattern.

The game was packed, it was about 30 sec before regular match end. I was in enemy base with 2 nukes, trans, toxic, invisi, the whole shebang. Right in the millisecond I guided my first nuke to clean up some mines the server froze and loaded the restart map some 10 seconds later. Same thing happened "last minute" yesterday. Super tense, long and good game... server crash.

Might be coincidentally but today it really seemed like that triggering my nuke killed the process somehow and I remember some comparable incidents some month ago when the server was also pretty sensitive.

Happened 11/24/15 about 8:45 PM Eastern US time.

Siege teleporters tell each other not to teleport the player back until he's left the teleporter radius and that happens on the remainder of Tick so it takes at least 1 frame to work...
But, it's on Masteroid and I've experienced clientside crashes on that map, so there's something weird there.

Please need some response over this. I always play on this server even worst condition then this, even though sometimes I have pings between 200ms to 300ms. So, why sometime it troubles me back. Any issue regarding FPS drop not sure whether its opengl ver36 (latest) driver or from net itself. This new ISP usually provides described above pings but sometimes it bounces above 300ms...

This is definitely client side. You are hitting server network/carrier @ hop 9, NTT.net

Before that you are lossing 100% on second hope (maybe your router doesn't respond to icmp) but 5th hop you are losing 29%.

The rest is just a domino effect. Contact your ISP.

I thought the lag I was getting was just the server being attacked, but look at this..., it's been happening since last night... hopefully it will fix itself soon.

I have packet loss 90% of the time, and will randomly just drop out getting almost no incoming packets.

I did 3 tests now for you see the ping instability. But now, in server the ping dont looks so bad like usual, it's between 170-230... normally it's being 220+
before my ping always was 145-155

If you have Auto-demo on , it can eventually lag your pc. Move demos to another folder, or keep the amount of demos as low as possible. To much demos makes my UT slow, with long loading times, and alot of random freezes.

That happened for me too, so I put together this quick batch file to first move the demo files off my main SSD to a secondary HDD after two days, and delete them after 10 days.

The loss and spike is occurring on your third hop. The server isn't the problem here. It's your connection/route to the server.

Your route is a cluster fuck....you're going from India to South Africa to Portugal then London and finally to America....

Your loss isn't much either. The final.hop showing 2% overall. I know it sounds like I say this a lot but the route is dictated by your ISP and the NSP they use. You hit server network @ zayo.com

Change ISP. Changing ISP won't guarantee anything better though. Maybe your current host will change its route or NSP they use but it's definitely you're route. Your packets are on a world tour....

- The glitches where people's meshes and hitboxes disconnect still run rampant and are especially bad on slopes and in water. This has been the case for years but I have not seen a fix.
- Rockets and pistoners hit ahead of where they appear.
- Player rotation isn't compensated for ping, making you think a player could be aiming away from you when they are not.

UT was always terrible at moving players in clients in stairs and some slopes, back in UT v400 you'd actually see players flying in CTF-Face.
Regarding hitboxes, I haven't changed anything on the ZPv2 register system used by Sniper, Shock, IG... except for the teamkill exploit fix but that check is done serverside.
Unless you're talking about other weapons?


- Rockets and pistoners hit ahead of where they appear.
Piston is LC lol, so pistoning with 300 ping will appear too weird for other players.
To counter that if you're a low pinger, charge straight into the enemy pistoner (as if going for a double KO), with your ping your hit should register first.


- Player rotation isn't compensated for ping, making you think a player could be aiming away from you when they are not.
That's a common issue with all forms of compensation.

RC21 is fine, no lag in this, thnx for roll back. I have checked , no lag like it was in new version.

After just playing a game on simplex, I report there is a massive improvement. I did not suffer lag once and I was able to run at 144fps rather than having to cap it to 70fps or it is jerky as hell. No one was spamming either and it seemed there was more teamwork than before, like opening door for nukers etc. Where as the new version has the lazy option of a door jammer for one example.

The hit box is back as it should be thanks to ZP, now my hits register every time. I haven't enjoyed a game like that for a long time. I know the rollback is aimed at lag issues, but for me it solved the spammy gameplay as well as the lag.

The new version was killing my interest in playing and I am going to hate it if it is back on without being seriously revised.

Door jammer

Yes, the door jammer should probably be more expensive (say, 400, and with a larger mesh/hitbox - I'd also say half hitpoints but that seems like a bit much). It's way too easy to spam these, particularly when your team has a tele going. Now that the shieldbelt is cheaper, the cost should translate into making door nuking a bit more difficult. The jammer also seems to work properly only on some movers, while not on others (would be better if elevators stayed stuck rather than alternating).

Hyper leecher

The hyper leecher's cost and stupid-fast build time should probably also be increased from the latest version. It's acceptable in a 1v1 to take your side's RU for an early-game gamble with it, but in team games it's kind of a dick move to be able to use the RU on a hyper leecher instead of upgrading the core/supplier or building a container. I'd say the hyper leecher's buildable ammo count should be increased to 130 and its cost kept at the original 350 or even 400.

That way it's still worth building, but it isn't stupidly OP - you have to be good at staying alive to recoup the cost, and using it just to put out rocket cannons will cost you a bit more; plus, it will be a higher risk to lose due to the higher ammo count. Maybe tweak the build time to be a second or two longer as well, you shouldn't be able to just completely, immediately shut down offense if you just spawned.

Should refill at a quarter the rate of normal weapons, if at all. Right now it refills faster than them when it's already OP and probably shouldn't refill.

Regular weapons

I propose significantly slowing supply rate for the sniper rifle.

Suggestion:

Ultra supplier - Doubles rate of super supplier, and very, very, very slowly refills any mid weapons the player is carrying.

The Seige server has been very laggy and crashing lately

Today crashed twice playing "CTF-'Z-Aleriav3" . (leads to chaos when everyone re-connects on different teams.)
It was laggy on DOA Arena -so next game I let MTR run during most of CTF-'Z-Aleriav3

network looks ok to me. It is odd to me why the MTR can still reach the server when it dumps everyone.
and the UT server list shows 9999

If i can do any other tests to help just let me know

If anyone is having connection issues on the server please do the following for me ASAP.

1. http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/
2. Run the MTR trace for at least 2 minutes
3. Select text output
4. Paste / post on forum
