Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.. it is with great pleasure that I am here to announce the inaugural OWNEDWELL tournament: KING OF THE GIB.
Most of you already know the rules but for those of you who don’t.. it is a simple concept. The tournament starts with 16 heats of 10 players. The top 5 in each heat advance to the next round until a grand finals where one player will be crowned the champion. The format will be InstaGib Deathmatch and the time limit will be 15mins with no frag limit.
The maplist for iDM tournaments has never stayed the same and this trend will continue in KING OF THE GIB. In honor of the 15th year anniversary of UT99, Deck16 will be the first map but we will also be looking to bring back old custom maps and showcase new custom maps. Malevolence will be played in the finals and Bellicose, Thoth and Agio played in the middle.
Only one player can win but this is meant to be both a fun and competitive tournament. Challenge yourself to see how far you can go and if you take a first round exit (along with 79 other people), at least you can feel good about participating and supporting a game that you love.
Aside from the maplist, there will be one big difference in this tournament.. and I mean BIG!
Fatboy will be enabled so if you you think you have what it takes, shake that badonkadonk and strut your stuff..
The event will have professional coverage and mr+ m3ss will be keeping up with all of the action. We will be keeping track of stats and have a lot of fun stuff planned for the intermissions..
Additionally, we will be doing Sunday shows throughout the Fall that will include: duel, iCTF, assault and other gametypes. They are showmatches and will happen during weeks that events are not planned. I wouldn't mind doing a Siege showmatch but I'd like to see top level play and a committed group of people show up. I also wouldn't mind seeing a few tweaks to the format but that is another story.
