Since when? I have seen your man, Adrian, and others make mines through a wall to allow them to build a tele in an otherwise secure room...

The rules link Chamberly shared was from 4 years ago and we agree the practice occurred after that, signifying a gap between the actual rule and what was common practice. Perhaps there are other threads but I am OK with just not building through walls since it is clear that is the practice and it is a rather small issue.
