That happen to my USB mouse to a while back. My cord that went INTO the mouse, started tearing. Maybe you got loose cord, or your wire is going to crap. Just buy a new one.

sounds like cpu issues?

not saying cpu is fucked but sometimes your pc could be "freezing" because ur cpu is at 100% use and processing something else in the background

usb port problem then, if its doing it on all the ports then either the usb controller is shot or the motherboard is on its way out.

If all the ports are doing the same thing then you could try a PCI usb card which are not expensive and very easy to fit/install.

If you know it's not a usb issue then it's probably the mouse. If you have a logitech mouse you can probably get them to send you a new one for free. That's what I did with my g500 when it started failing.

If it happens with 4 mices then it's definitely the usb port failing.

Changing the mobo should be enough, no need to return it? Or it's an already built in computer?

You need to return it and insist they change the motherboard.

If it is under warranty period, then take it back.

But if not;
If you have a real PC (tower) then just buy a cheap USB card. Problem solved.
If you have a disposable PC (laptop) then you have probably burnt-out the 5v lines.

Most gaming mice, and any mice with no power-control (variable or just sleep mode) will kill your USB ports eventually.
The first sign is being able to use the mouse for only a few minutes, then finally nothing.
You will find that USB memory sticks with flashing LEDs then start to fail.

You may be lucky if you have a laptop with a Cardbus slot, then you can get new USB ports. Check your manual or the support page, for info on which kind of Cardbus.

*TIP for laptop owners*
If you use a laptop for long periods (like a desktop is built for), get a powered USB hub, and/or use low-power laser mice, or laptop mice.
