ive been working on this map for a good 2 - 3 weeks and i have offiacly tested and tested, and tweaked and tweaked, and now i have finished and completed it. Probably my best map since MiniMines.

too big and very much type of a maze. nukers would seek in easily. doesn't look appropriate for siege but hey just my 2 cents

dont feel down about not many downloads etc. zac, some mappers designs are not to everyone's taste, make some maps with wider areas and i will be happy to put them on our servers.

well, the idea i had in mind was for it to be an Orbital type of map, the mid was from the default one and tweaked it a lil to make the floor bigger, but everything pretty much was a little closed in.

if you want to include RX style in it, simple..... think of the fact a jet has to fly from one base to the other (the tunnels either side of blackriver to mid spawn is as small as you can go if that helps), be able to grab the flag WHILE flying and then return to base, then your map will be on our server.

yeah i was athinking about tunnels in this map, but i just thought about the jetpack getting in there and building shit and a shorter time to the base and all that. in MY opinion i think about maps being played by PUG players MOSTLY, if i were to build a map thats for public, there would be about 20+ spawns, and i think ill make a noob happy map a little bit by covering some spawns and a bigger sup area you know?
PS STOP POSTING IM TRYING TO REPLY ON ALL THE TOP POSTS THAT ARE VIEWED ON HOME :P

edit:-OK Finally this one got through so I'm going to post my review.

Downloaded it. Extracted all but 2 files because they were already in my system according to other maps. I looked at the file size, they seem same... but certainly no mismatch on my end. YAY!

Off note:
At first, when I try to load up Practice mode, it usually take longer than expected but that is on my end of the UT game. I don't know if anyone had this problem before or not but if there some way to fix this I'd appreciate to see the solution.

Looking over the map:
Guess what? Map loaded up just fine. So I float around for a bit (ghosting before I start the game) and I find myself looking through the map such as try to go through the tree, the pipe up in the corner, try to run through doors and stuff. Then taking a couple of min running around I think it would be a pretty good map.

iCTF... I think it would be a little bit hard since it is short of so big, so IMO it would be appropriate for more than 4v4 players (minimum choice). 5v5 would be good enough, and 6v6 or higher is better.

RX ctf... might be a little bit small in the pathway but I think you may have to slow down a little bit getting a hold on the turn. Not sure about this but would be happy enough just to try it out on the HoF server, Fluke.

For Siege, the map may have to be modified a bit, such as adding a room for client builds, example... nukes. hehe.

I also notice the spawn point are only at the back of the base. This could be a flaw. If you widen the spawn point not only in back of the base but as well on the side of the base being able to get to the middle area quickly, that would be an additional 4-5 spawn point for each side (blue/red). (RX could at least be around spawn I think lol)

Overall:
I think you should add more spawn point like I pointed up there. & add a picture of the map so when it is clicked on, it'll show up the pic of the map in the mapvote.

Then should try it again... and then it could pass. :)

Ps: any secret spot around? such as hidden area behind a punky or so?

The reason Practice mode takes a long time on some machines is down to how many maps you have, the more maps in your map folder, the longer it takes to load practice mode, i have two map folders, one for the mapping and mod testing and the other is my normal map folder, thats the only way to speed it up.

i will take a look and maybe try it out on our server.

Wow. I guess that is what going on, thanks. I def would make another folder for maps. Who knows I have over 1000+ of maps in my UT lol!

so thats about a 5-10 minute pause before the window opens right? I have 2600 maps and in practice it can take up to 15-20 minutes for the window to open..lol


best thing to do is install a clean copy of UT in another location, copy the maps folder into your existing UT install and rename it to something like "Maps1" then swap them around when you want to do a practice mode.

i will get SSD when the sizes get to my liking, right now it seems a lot of cash for small drive space, i had a 64GB one and was pointless.

SSD's are cheap these days...just get a small one to run whatever stuff you need access to quickly and fast :s

Honestly though 7200RPM drives are perfectly capable !

I played the map, and I thought it has potential in Siege. Nice entrances, there are places you can build nukes, and you have to think about a number of control points and teleport spots. I already have plans for where to build the SuperContainer. It definitely has potential, just requires people to try something new instead of voting for the classics.

The problem with it has been pointed out before, that the mid isn't really long enough. It shouldn't take a lot of work to stretch it out a bit, to avoid Niven Syndrome; the bases are perfect but more is needed in the centre. Once you've done that you're ready for some decent pub matches.

Pretty fun map, just imo one entrance too much. I played it on public in a 4vs4 or 5vs5 and even then it was quite difficult to defend it in the beginning. I think the high entrance should be the one getting removed else game will never take long enough to build nukes etc.

We had a good game yesterday that went deep with several nukes and then I had to leave. Adrian was in, ask him. Lots of good tele spots, too.
