i play ut, but i seem to lag i dont know what is the cause? i am thinking its either my graphics card, or pc or monitor?
my graphics card is geforce 8400gs
and my pc is celeron D 3.47ghz
my monitor is lcd flatscreen samsung 8ms response time
and im running windows 7, i think my pc is barely able to meet the requirements of it, when i play on ace servers it lags for about 10 seconds badly before loading!!!!:(

UT is an old game man...if you have win 98 and above you can run it lol
if anything, your Pc might be "too good" for it...it all depends I remember Having some issues when I upgraded my graphics card with "lag".

i dont know i think the windows 7 is hogging my pc power, and graphics card , causing my pc to be laggy and slow for ut. i was thinking of downgrading to windows xp but i dont have serial key for that.and no im not keennetsh bro

no your pc should be perfectly fine to run it
you will always get a slow loadup while ace loads, could just be a problem with how your UT is setup
what renderer in game are you using?
how many cores does your CPU have

Celeron D is dual core. So each core is running 1.2 GHZ. That pc should be fine...UT was made for a 300MHZ comp lol
If you lag a lot when joining then after you have joined, try mutate ace help in the console and some of the commands like compattoggle.

this lag should be any bad configuration on UT, i use the same graphic card, but semprom 2.2 ghz and it run UT with no lag ( but using low resolution and textures detail, idk if the performance decrease if play UT with full graphics)

if you play with highest graphis with this card it may lag, im runnign at 1280, it seems to be fine, but minor lags here and there i dont know if its the card though, i have skin to low, and texture to low. if i play with 800x600 it is worse for me cause my native resolution is 1280 on my monitor, and ut ends up looking weird and not cool to play on/annoying

What renderer are you using?
I advise against using the original ones.
As you have an nVidia chipset, and I advise the newest OpenGL or try Kentie's DX10 or 11 renderers.
The beta renderers available at oldunreal may also be worth a try.

You should switch over to 3.6. 3.7 isn't stable. I had problems with that. I think it is still blacklisted by ACE.

Banny agreed, i just switched to 3.6 i will check it out later, its always best to use the stable one, i should never of been using 3.7 what was i thinking?
@blaze 1GB of ram for windows 7 is recommended, and i have done tips to make my pc faster to use less ram etc, i dont ever have any programs or anything open at all when im playing ut99. but you could be right, if this is the case i may revert back to windows xp.

I think you should turn off aero themes and shit if u have less RAM. they always cause lag.

i turned everything off such as aero theme, no background wallpaper, no programs running, windows 98 start menu style, etc etc.. lag has decreased a little, but not fully

Try connecting a 4:3 ratio monitor (CRT is preferable).
You'd be surprised how many laptops play games faster ;)
Just forcing the screen into 4:3 screen-modes does not seem to work.

blaze is probably right, 3 main theories i have, is the ram, os, and processor.
i could update the ram, buy a new processor, or install xp
I think installing xp may be the cheapest fix, since it recommends 256mb ram.

Disabling the Unwanted Services helped me the most.
Following all the stuff from that guide and uninstalling software i don't use i went from something like 600mb ram idle to 350-370mb idle.

i dont think its the ram for ut blaze, it may be the ram on windows 7 and it cant handle windows 7. Im using ddr2 ram, so it should be good enough for ut.
Im starting to think its my processor, with my os, the processor is celeron which is extremely crap its like the lowest of intel/cheap i checked the rating on benchmark and it only scored 300 and something which is like a p4 and even weaker than some p4's
my graphics is also probably being throttled by the processor. which may be causin the lag with all these other factors.

ive got it fixed a bit, it lags way less now, i went into the bios, and saw primary video source option, it was on pci, i switched it to pci-e because my gfx card is pci-e, and when i play now, quite a bit less lag, and my framerate is extremely stable, before this my fps was going crazy

Man, my old Celeron D (2.13 ghz), 512 MB ram and GeForce 6200 ran this game at 1440 x 960 at 60fps with some downloaded S3 textures.
OS was XP though.
You can try disabling all the memory hogging, graphic's consuming shit your Windows has.

If you all used GT Lite client, you wouldn't have to worry about who says they are who-ever, even if they change IP with a proxy.
Admin should always run it to set an example.
It helps solve disputes immediately, and stops threads turning into long-winded bitching.
It also means it is easier to clear your name if you are wrongly accused.
All admin wishing to join the Admin-group being setup by Hook WILL be required to use it.
We realised because of the info it shows, the only people who refuse to use it have something to hide.
Players can delete their history (as MEAT did), but gaps in the log are easy to see when compared to the server logs (making it even easier to prove wrong-doing).
A win-win situation for honest players and admin.
