View Full Version : Clarification on camping

I would appreciate some clarification on an issue that just came up on the siege server. On (DH)Everest, each team has a portal that places them up the mountain far above their base. In the game, both teams had begun to defend that area and were sniping each other from their respective high perches. Not sniping below, just each other at the same level.

I previously did not understand this activity to be camping, but was temporarily kicked for it by a mod and other players were warned for the same action. I don't see any thread about camping rules having changed. If I sniped a player below, that would clearly be camping. It seems like a rather slippery slope to say you can't shoot players on the same level as you. The perches happened to be far apart and required sniper zoom. Still, many examples could come out of high areas on each side of a base (Black River, for instance) that are regularly attacked on the same level in games.

As any regular knows, I try to play within the rules and appreciate the clarification. Happy sieging to all.

doesn't seem like camping the way you just said it.

Seem legit to me, camping high to frag off other camper from high is np?

Sometime it's fun. Hehehe. Now if it like on CTF Face and sniping down low... that's a no no as we all know.. hmm. Who warned you?

Agree with the above. Camping high to high to gain control isn't really camping. It would be classed as camping if you were shooting low, to unsuspecting players trying to get to opposition base.

It gets tricky where the opposition team are losing their 'pitch' because at that point, it is likely the player will return. And therefore we go back: to waiting in a place where a person will almost certainly pass.

It has been resolved. No worries and thanks for clarifying.
