Can HDMI cable support 144hz on my monitor?

I'm using the dual link dvi cable with my asus vg248qe 144hz monitor but the downside is that the color quality is terrible it looks all washed up. I guess it's something to expect with most TN panels these days they have bad color reproduction. I've been comparing the color and quality of those lcds using a HDMI cable vs those that use dvi cables and the ones that use hdmi cables are by far superior in every aspect except for maybe performance wise. I already know my monitor supports HDMI because it has two hdmi input at the bottom but I was wondering if I use the hdmi cable would it still support 144hz? Most hdmi cables I heard only supports 60hz max but are there any (like hdmi 1.4a, 1.4b, etc) that can support 144hz or even 120hz on my monitor?

Attachment 1816I've done that a long time ago. Got the info from here: Using ICC Profiles in Windows - PC Monitors

I'm not expecting 100% amazing colors considering tn panels can never compare to leds in terms of color quality even if they're calibrated correctly. I may be wrong on that but until I actually see a TN panel that has good color quality as good as an LED then I'll change my mind. Anyways, I just wanted to know if the HDMI 1.4a cable can support 144hz because who simply doesn't like gaming at 720p/1080p and @ 144hz if it's possible.
