I think it's very unfair to be ganging up on Chinpo for raising the topic for debate.

I'm of the same mind. The server is labelled "COMBOGIB" afterall, and I began playing there (some time in 2012) for that reason. I say this as someone who prefers Normal Weapons and started playing the "Full Version" (retail version) of UT on the No Downloads server before Rob and his server vanished without warning. If the server is going to continue with this split personality I think it risks alienating the players who have been coming there for Combogib, and frustrating the smaller number of visitors who are more interested in Normal Weapons.

Memory is fickle, but from my recollection there have definitely been other extended periods when the server was Combo only - I wouldn't have visited regularly otherwise. I can't say why, but Normal Weapons feels "off" there for me somehow. I realise that ping shouldn't be a factor (or at least not to the same extent) with Newnet, but perhaps that's still a significant reason because I don't have the same difficult-to-quantify issues with a European server that I sometimes visit for Normal Weapons. Having said that, Combo feels OK, so I've no idea what that's about.

The No Downloads server was Normal Weapons + grapple, and I'd feel happier with that configuration as a compromise. But, as I say, my personal preference is strongly for Combogib only.

Adding grapple at least to NW would help. Ideally I'd LOVE to see an Insta Combo server with same gun, no combo plus grapple. I hate shock balls, lol. I rarely use them. I don't like the delay on regular insta. I used to play it in leagues years back, but low g.

We played against SX which you still see many of the maps. Oxy and her Husband started and ran SX. We played mainly LOW G run and gun sniper, but also insta. Our clan started with a site and forum and renting a few server slots. We started Snipers gaming league which lasted about 4 years. We competed on the other leagues at the time as well. Once we started the league I got one full server and we rented out our extra slots to some other clans. Then there was more demand and I was adding a new server just about every month. We ended up with a full rack but then the hassles started. I was renting to kids as well as adults, and started having the kids messing with their server setting, and it got very tedious and not worth the time. Parents contacting me bitching about charges kids made without permission, paypals being contested.

I also started website hosting off the rack as well and that lasted longer. I started shutting the servers down as I got rid of the problem people and reduced the rack amount down and stopped advertising for new clients. Nothing I've ever said on these forums about my history is a lie, and I really don't give a fuck what some 20 year old wet behind the ears, only been inside his moms pussy dipshit thinks like the scat poster. I've played the game since it first came out, I made many maps, helped create mods and mutators for both ut99 and ut2k3 and 4. Our clan vacationed together, met in real life, flew to visit each other, and we had a great time for many years till people's lives moved on and we switched and played cod, halflife, counterstrike, and the newer versions of UT. We used VOIP before all the easy things there are now for instant communication and talking while playing. Coddle the little punks all you want, they'll move on to another game and screw up someone else's games at some point. Pretty dumb to push away the people that have been playing for 16 years..

But I'd ban anyone posting scat pics on a public non porn forum instantly.

I don't care what anyone says. Newnet cannot correct for a high ping. It helps, it actually seems to overcompensate for high pingers. I know when my ping goes up and I just pull the trigger I WAY more often get a random hit. You can't have someone with a 200 + ping vs someone with a 28 ping and have them have the same experience. Or you don't understand what ping is.. The time it takes for the info to reach from server, to player and back again is delayed. There isn't a way to eliminate that, it is simply compensating for the lag. You're still lagging.. They've just streamlined the data down so it is less noticeable. So what happens is someone with low to no latency firing at someone with high ping, they still lag.
